OPPORTUNITIES AT CIRCUS JUVENTAS
Role and Responsibilities
Life at Circus Juventas is about striving for new levels of excellence in artistry, athleticism, mental acuity, and creativity. The largest circus school in North America is seeking candidates who have a broad intellectual perspective, strong leadership skills, and a high degree of personal integrity and professionalism to a complex and unique school. Circus Juventas enrolls 1,000 students in our year-round out-of-school program, and 400 students in six weeks of summer day camps. We have spring, summer, and holiday shows—plus an annual gala that is our most important fundraiser of the year. The Development and Volunteer Coordinator supports all development-related activities and events and is also the main contact for over 600 dedicated volunteers who help our shows and programming operate smoothly.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Gift Database Administration + Donor Acknowledgement
- Assist in gift (individual donations, sponsorships, grants, etc.) processing
- Support in preparing, reviewing and sending tax acknowledgement letters
- Manage donor and funder transactions in Bloomerang and Greater Giving databases
- Support donor stewardship projects including: updating solicitation and promotional materials, acknowledgement letters and annual reports, assisting in the creation of new templates and ensuring accuracy of information
- Assistance with other donor stewardship projects as needed
- Assist Development Director with routine data analysis, report pulling and tracking materials to ensure accuracy of data
Development + Events
- Perform, research and contribute to strategies for prospective individual, corporate, government and institutional donors as needed
- Prepare materials for donor and sponsor meetings
- Support donor appeals plan and mailings
- General administrative support in the weeks leading up to events
- Administrative responsibilities and other related job duties as assigned
- Act as liaison between gala volunteers and staff leading up to annual fundraising gala
- Create donor newsletters, invitations, development communication materials (for example: Annual Report, creative signage, infographics, sponsor presentations)
Volunteer management
- Work with Sign Up Genius to create volunteer sign up slots for each event
- Manage tracking of volunteer hours, background checks, and liability forms in Bloomerang
- General knowledge of all volunteer roles
- Work with lead volunteers to make sure they are assigned to each shift to train and manage that role
- Cultivate new volunteers though conversations, emails, and events
- Implement volunteer appreciation events
- Manage volunteer relationships
Experience, Competencies & Education
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Qualifications include:
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and be comfortable with multitasking
- Not required but two to three years’ administrative experience helpful, preferably in nonprofit or development related work
- Flexible schedule to work evening and weekend events
- Previous data entry and database experience, donor database experience a plus
- Exceptional writing and editing skills for preparing reports and donor/sponsor materials
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
- Exceptional time-management and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize
- Detail-oriented
- Strong judgment and discretion, ability to maintain strict donor confidentiality
- Comfortable learning new software systems
- Savvy with social media
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google Suite, Canva or other design software helpful
Additional Notes
Full time M-F hours with weekend attendance for annual fundraising gala and majority of spring, summer, and holiday performances required (during event times, flexibility to take comp time during the week or after events).

Job Summary: Coach a variety of Circus Acts to students, using a safe and progressive coaching methodology. Primarily coaching Aerial acts within our Professional Program and advanced youth program. Ensure a fun, inclusive, and safe class environment for all students of varying skill levels.
Essential Duties:
- Coach Aerial Circus arts in a clear and progressive style, to all students enrolled in each class
- Ensure the safety and management of risks associated with learning circus arts, for each individual student (e.g. acrobatic content, use of equipment, use of safety lines and spotting…)
- Create a fun and inclusive learning environment for all students under your supervision.
- Coach in an engaging, dynamic and creative way. To inspire our students to be their best.
- Under the direction of the Artistic Director, create and train circus acts for performances throughout the calendar year.
- Assist in all aspects of creating content for annual shows and performances.
- Collaborate with other coaches of various disciplines, to create acrobatic content for circus acts.
- Adhere to rules and guidelines, set forth in the Circus Juventas Coaching Handbook.
- Evaluating of student’s acrobatic level for advancement through the Circus Juventas program levels.
- Report any safety or rigging concerns to Arena and/or Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Three or more years Coaching Aerial Circus Arts in a professional or youth setting.
- Ability to coach Aerial Hoop/Lyra, Spanish Web, Aerial Silks, Aerial Straps and other aerial disciplines.
- Collaborative team player, with a positive attitude.
- Act creation and choreography experience.
- Love of the Performing Arts and love of working with youth.
- Past professional Circus and performing experience a plus.

Circus Juventas is seeking a Head Rigger/Arena Manager, reporting to the Managing Director. The Head Rigger/Arena Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe setup, use and maintenance of rigging equipment, as well as assisting with inventory and safety inspections. This position will also be tasked with leading the rigging team in safely operating the rigging equipment during performances, classes, and trainings.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years experience as a Head Rigger; experience with aerial/human rigging an asset
- College diploma (or equivalent) in live entertainment or theatre production (or equivalent work experience)
- Personnel management experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, …)
- Flexibility, autonomy, team player
- Good communication skills
- Ability to handle contingencies and work well under pressure
- Ability to work high above the ground (climbing abilities essential)
- Certified Welder and experience in high speed cable winches desired
- Experience in acrobatic spotting and operating aerial winch for aerial acrobatics
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
- Rigging Certification
- Experience in coaching acrobatics/circus arts
