There are so many ways to learn at Circus Juventas.
LEVELS OF TRAINING
Exploratory/Recreational
Circus Juventas’ exploratory/recreational programming is intended to invite kids to explore and discover their passions in the circus art. Our safe and nurturing environment develops the basic skills and unique vocabulary of our different acts, and offers the fun of participating in a big-top show – as well as non-performing classes for children who prefer to participate differently. Recommended for students age 6-21 and available for all beginning students, this track includes foundation training in all five circus arts genres plus our Circus Experience and Aerial Techniques classes.
Intermediate/Preparatory
Our intermediate/preparatory curriculum is for students who are ready for the next step in developing their confidence, agility and specific circus arts skills. Cross-training and other focused classes are designed to allow these kids to work towards advanced levels, including training that broadens, intensifies and expands their skills in preparation for participating in our end-of-summer shows.
Advanced/Premier
Circus Juventas’ advanced students are a highly committed troupe of students, and are the ones who apply to be a part of our Summer Show Cast. These developing circus artists participate in a large-scale, professionally produced showcase that culminates in more than twenty performances in August. Each year, acts are chosen to highlight that specific group of performers’ best talents, with a storyline complete with a theatrical plot. Because of the combination of circus arts and storytelling, these students are typically ones who trained at the highest levels in their circus acts plus also have integrated CJ theater and dance, demonstrating their ability to create character and interpret emotion. This troupe trains year-round and is expected to exemplify an extraordinary level of dedication, an interest in reaching the pinnacle of circus training (either at Circus Juventas or beyond), and sense of mentorship to younger students in the school.
