SUMMER SHOW PERFORMER EXPECTATIONS

Yes and no. We would love to have all of our summer show performers return in November to perform in the gala, but we understand the challenges in making that work.

Oftentimes, yes. Select performers may be asked to participate in promotional events, such as TV spots, media interviews, and community events. Many performers are also invited back in the winter to perform at the gala.

From fall to spring sessions, summer show performers follow the same vacation schedule as everyone else. During summer session, they are not allowed to take vacation time other than the week of July 4.

We understand that things come up. The key is communication: we like to know as soon as the conflict arises. Additionally, we ask that performers evaluate their absences carefully and determine the “needs” versus “wants” of missing class. For example, missing class last minute for a family funeral is different than missing for a friend’s birthday party.

Summer show participants are expected to train year-round and attend all classes throughout the year. Absences should be avoided as much as possible and attendance becomes increasingly important during spring and summer sessions. Summer show performers are not allowed to miss any classes or rehearsals (other than the week of July 4) during summer session.
