World Circus Day 2024

This April 20^th is World Circus Day!

This year, on World Circus Day, we are celebrating our 30^th Anniversary year. That means we are throwing a party like never before, both in and out of our big top, and we are going to keep celebrating all spring!

On World Circus Day 2024, we will have live performers at the Eagan Hy-Vee for a sponsored fundraising effort, we will announce the winner of the 30^th anniversary sticker contest, and we will begin selling tickets for our second annual Community Carnival, back and bigger than ever!

This year’s Community Carnival will be packed full of circus fun and accessible to all through our pay-what-you-can ticket model. The carnival will celebrate all things circus for our 30^th anniversary including games, interactive circus, performances from both our professional program and our renowned coaching staff, and our first ever spring community vendor market—The BAZAAR! The spirit of this event is to be accessible to all, if any cost is a barrier to participation, email nicole@circusjuventas.org for tickets. All ticket proceeds go towards fundraising efforts to increase accessibility for all!

What is World Circus Day?

World Circus Day is the international day of circus arts celebration. It is an opportunity to raise public awareness, share the wonders of this magical world, and attract supporters and circus lovers by creating unforgettable moments of happiness.

Established in 2010 by H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie of Monaco to “publicize the role of circus as part of our shared cultural heritage,” World Circus Day is held each year with hundreds of circuses around the world participating in the celebration.

Circus Juventas participates in World Circus Day to remind our students that circus is performed all over the world and to keep us connected to the larger circus community.

2023
Circus Juventas celebrated World Circus Day by launching our first ever Community Carnival, bringing circus to everyone!”

2022
Circus Juventas celebrated World Circus Day by inviting our students and community to share their proudest circus moment or memory via social media.

2021
Circus Juventas celebrated World Circus Day with the launch of our Center Ring Fundraiser! We shared videos throughout the day on our website and on social media highlighting video submissions from the Center Ring Challenge.

2020
Circus Juventas celebrated World Circus Day and our 25^th anniversary year, by providing our community with a full day of virtual entertainment. We wrapped up our month long #CJstrong fundraiser by celebrating the thrills and joys of circus from home with live virtual classes, activities, and stories from alumni and staff.

2019
Circus Juventas celebrated World Circus Day by kicking off our 25th anniversary year and throwing a big-top party of epic proportions. Held in conjunction with Coach Chimgee’s Mission Manduhai, our guests enjoyed thrilling performances, food trucks, face painting – and even the opportunity to try circus equipment first hand.

2018
Circus Juventas commemorated World Circus Day and the 250th anniversary of the first day of circus with cake, pictures, and fun as we transitioned the building from class to show mode, officially getting ready for spring and summer in the big top.

2017
Circus Juventas launched our #IAmCircusJuventas social media campaign, celebrating the magic of circus with fun props, equipment, and a CJ photo booth. In addition, CJ students performed a pre-show with hip-hop artist Dessa, the Minnesota Orchestra, and DJ Ander Other, highlighting CJ’s focus on cross-discipline collaboration and spreading the art of circus.

2016
Circus Juventas teamed up with Twin Cities Public Television to “Takeover” your TV!

2015
CJ celebrated “Circus Selfie Day”, an internationally driven social media campaign designed to capture circus enthusiasts clad in clown noses.

2014
Nearly 4,000 people showed up for CJ’s World Circus Day Open House, which included open play on equipment, food and drink, and impromptu performances throughout the day.

2013
Circus Juventas hosted a special performance consisting of local and national acts. All proceeds benefited Circus Manduhai, brainchild non-profit of Coach Chimgee.
