Heather Zenzen
Heather lives just south of the river with her two circus kids, five cats, house rabbit, clown dog, and patient husband. She earned her degree in political science but has never been a politician. In addition to her work at CJ, she employs herself by making stuff up and writing it down. She’s written for local campaigns and businesses, but novel-length work is her sweet spot. Recently, her work was awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative grant as well as the Society of Children’s Writers and Illustrators’ Sue Alexander Award. Before becoming a writer, she was a toy seller on the internet, a registration counselor at the U of M, and a soldier in the US Army. In her spare time, she makes up songs about her cats, hassles her kids (because eye rolls are her favorite), and asks her dog if she’s been a good girl today.
