COVID-19 UPDATES & INFORMATION

Home COVID-19 UPDATES & INFORMATION

COVID-19 UPDATES

We are currently operating under the MDH guidance for gyms, fitness centers, and youth sports. Some adjustments will be made to our programming to comply with the state’s latest guidelines, including the following:

  • During classes, building occupancy will not exceed 250 persons at any time.
    • All students are only allowed in the building if they are enrolled in class or participating in the work-study program for that hour.
    • Students with a break between classes of 1 hour or less may remain in the lobby during their break.
    • Please arrange to have your students picked up as needed or wait in a vehicle outside between classes.
  • Limited and/or podded student-to-student contact
    • In accordance with the Minnesota Department of Health guidance for youth sports, students may be closer than 6 ft. in distance and/or make direct student-to-student contact IF they are part of a pod of no more than 25 students.
    • Based on our ability to pod, we have divided our classes into three categories of contact.
    • Wave 1 classes – these are classes that require student-to-student contact and need to begin contact during training now to ensure students are prepared for the spring show.
    • Wave 2 classes – these are classes that will never require direct contact but will require students to be closer than 6 ft., possibly on shared apparatuses while training.
    • No Contact classes – these are classes that will be able to maintain 6 ft social distance for rehearsals and performances.
    • In all classes, students will maintain 6 ft. distance whenever possible, and contact will be limited in time.
    • See class list below
  • Masks must be worn at all times.
    • Students are no longer allowed to remove masks while engaging in extreme physical exercise. Coaches will adjust training to accommodate this requirement.
    • Per MDH guidance, students may temporarily remove their mask if there is danger of choking, entanglement, or mask slippage that would impair vision.

The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority at Circus Juventas. We have worked diligently to adhere to all mandates and recommendations from the Office of the Governor, Minnesota Department of Health, and CDC. We will continue to monitor and update our procedures as necessary throughout the year.

Thanks to our families and staff for following these procedures. Together, we will stay CJ strong!

CJ'S STAY SAFE CATEGORIES

UPDATED FOR SPRING – Currently, we have suspended our CJ Stay Safe Categories to implement the podding system outlined at the top of this page. Please refer to the information about limited and/or podded student-to-student contact found at the top of this page and the class list in the next section for the most current class procedures.

We have assigned each of our classes and acts a CJ Stay Safe Category. CJ will use these categories to help determine which acts and levels can be conducted based on the ability to meet social distancing requirements. When possible, curriculum will be adapted to adhere to social distancing and/or bring the class into a lower category.

  • Category 1: Can maintain 6 feet of distance from other students/no shared equipment/minimized coach contact.
  • Category 2: Can maintain 6 feet of distance from other students/some shared equipment/minimized coach contact.
  • Category 3: Will maintain 6 feet of distance whenever possible from other students, but there will be times that 6 feet of distance cannot be guaranteed/limited student-to-student contact/students will be masked if closer than 6 feet/shared equipment
  • Category 4: Will maintain 6 feet of distance whenever possible, but there will be longer periods in which students will be closer than 6 feet during training/students will be masked if closer than 6 feet/high student-to-student contact/shared equipment

CJ Stay Safe Categories are indicated throughout the session guide in the “Prerequisites AND CJ Stay Safe Category” column.

If you have any questions regarding the CJ Stay Safe Categories, please email adminstaff@circusjuventas.org.

      • 1000-level classes are currently no-contact but will shift as future podding allows.

*It is important to note that participation in any organized youth sport or arts program brings an additional risk of exposure to participants. CJ will continue our commitment to upholding safety and hygiene practices required to keep our students safe. We ask that CJ students, especially those involved in higher contact classes, make thoughtful choices outside of CJ to help keep their teammates safe.
