Katy McEwen has been working in the Twin Cities as a performer, writer, and teacher since she and her husband packed up the cat and made the long, dangerous journey northwest from Dayton, Ohio in 1995. She started her career as a performing apprentice and company member at Children’s Theatre Company where she continues to work as a Teaching Artist in their nationally acclaimed Neighborhood Bridges educational outreach program. She is thrilled to have spent the majority of her career working as a sketch comedy performer, writer, improviser, and director at The Brave New Workshop founded by Dudley Riggs in 1958 (yes, that’s the actual name- Google it.) She began there as a main stage company member and eventually worked her way up to her current position as Co-Artistic Director alongside her husband, Caleb McEwen. During her tenure there she has performed, written, improvised, and spent a surprisingly long six month stint performing improvisation aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship. Starting out as an awestruck CJ parent fighting to get a good seat in the viewing gallery, she jumped at the chance to fill the position of Summer Show script writer and part-time theatre coach. She is very excited to be a part of the CJ family.
